Pastures that spread out to the horizon, un-Japanese straight road, see breeze from the Sea of Okhotsk, and moderate hill crimes.
You can drop in Yezo Sika (Hokkaido deer) meadow on the way, may encounter foxes (if you are lucky) or bears (if unlucky) .
All the typical attractive landscapes of Hokkaido and aspects of bike tours are crammed in this 100 km only circuit trail.
WHere is mombetsu ? 紋別ってどこ？
北海道東部、ジンギスカンの皿で言えばあまり肉が焼けない位置に紋別市はあります。札幌から車で４時間ほどかかりますが、羽田からの直行便もあり、週末ライドも充分可能ですよ！

Mombetsu is 4 hours drive away from Sapporo city, daily direct air from/to Tokyo is also available. So you can enjoy weekend ride there. Details of this city can be taken from the HP of "Mombetsu Tourism Promotion Corporation"
where tO BIKE? どこを漕ぐの？
紋別から滝上（たきのうえ）町まで約35キロ、滝上町から西興部（にしおこっぺ）村まで約24キロ、西興部村から興部町経由で紋別まで約42キロ、合計101キロの周遊コースです。適度なアップダウンで日帰りも可能ですが、より風景を楽しみたい方には道中一泊をオススメします。詳細は「Route」ご参照ください。
From Mombetsu to Takinoue town (approx.35km), then to Nishiokoppe village (24km), and get back to Monbetsu via Okoppe town (42Km). Day-trip is quite possible but we recommend you to stay the night en route. Please see the detail from the page of "Route" .
caution 注意点
あの名曲風にお伝えすると、北海道郊外の道路は、「コンビニもねえ、建物もねえ、車もそれほど走ってねえ」のが一般的です。紋別地域は比較的天候には恵まれていますが、夏でも雨天時には急激に気温が下がる北海道、低体温症のリスクを避けるためにも、こまめな水分＆栄養補給、緊急用の衣服や食料へのケアをお願いします。
In general, the roads in the rural area of Hokkaido are off the beaten and you may not find only one convenience store for over 20 km, unlike any other part of Japan. Temperature of this far north district easily drops down even in summer, so you are supposed to bring enough food, water and clothes with you to avoid hypothermia or so. FYI, please take into account that the climate of Hokkaido is quite similar to the those of Ireland.
